It’s Valentine’s Day today and we are making a cute cupid out of toilet paper roll 🙂

Toilet Paper Roll Cupid

Paint a toilet paper roll pink

Paste eyes onto the roll. Alternatively you may dip your finger into white paint and print it as the eyes, paint black for the eyeball.

Draw the mouth

You’ll need some aluminium foil

Twist the foil until you get a strip and shape it into a wing. Repeat until you get a pair of wings

Use cellophane tape to tape the wings into place

Cut a strip of white paper and paste onto the cupid. Get some cotton and paste it too as the hair

Use pipe cleaner and craft foam and make the bow and arrow.

Glue the arrow and bow onto the cupid and you are done!

Happy Valentine’s Day y’all 😀

If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that I like to recycle stuffs for crafts. Today, I’m very happy for the craft that I’m sharing with you is totally, 100%, originally MINE 😀

I sat for hours looking at the Vitagen bottles piling up in the recycling box in my kitchen. Yes, I have boxes in the kitchen labelled “plastic“, “glass“, “paper” and “others“. We ALL need to do our part for the environment, don’t we? After hours and hours of looking at the bottle, I finally came out with THIS. I’m so happy (oh yes, I’ve said that already :D).

Alright, enough of talking and let’s get to back to business. A friend of mine calls this elephant ELEGEN, so ELEGEN it shall be 😀 Ladies and gentlemen, presenting….

Elegen, the Vitagen Elephant 🙂

Draw a circle, cut and paste to cover the ‘mouth’ of the bottle.

Use small strips of paper and paste until you’ve covered the entire bottle.

Cut 2 long strips of paper. I used two different colors.
Fold on top of each other and then paste as the trunk.
Cut 2 ears out of colored craft foam and paste.

Cut four strips out of colored craft foam and glue the ends to form a loop.
Paste onto the elephant as the legs.

Glue a pipe cleaner as the tail.
I stick an oval craft foam at the end for maximum cuteness effect 😀

Elegen - MY Vitagen Elephant 😀

One of Ethan’s vitamin supplement comes with a sponge in the bottle. Each time we open a new bottle, we need to take out the sponge. After some time, I see that I have so many of these nice round sponges and wondered what can I do with them. Today, let’s make good use out of it. Let’s make a spider, an albino spider that is 😛

Albino Spider

You'll need a round sponge, a white pipe cleaner, a red pipe cleaner and two large googly eyes

Glue the googly eyes onto the sponge

Cut the white pipe cleaner into smaller pieces. You'll need eight. Bend them and glue four on each side

Cut a short piece of red pipe cleaner. Bend in the middle and glue as the mouth. Your albino spider is done 🙂

Fresh flowers are beautiful but they don’t last. This is my first time venturing into making paper flowers. Instead of using tissue paper, I used crepe paper instead.

Crepe paper carnation

I used crepe paper instead of tissue paper and pipe cleaner instead of the floral wire.

Accordion fold the crepe paper. Fold it once from one side to the other and fold again.

Click here to learn more about accordion fold.

Loop the pipe cleaner in the middle and slowly pull and spread out the crepe paper.

I used pipe cleaner so that it can be looped around little girls' wrist as a corsage. Ideal as a wedding favor 😀

Mother’s Day is fast approaching. It will be nice to make a bouquet of this and present them to Mommies out there 🙂

Pipe cleaners

A pipe cleaner is a type of brush originally intended for cleaning smoking pipes. Besides cleaning pipes, they can be used for any application that calls for cleaning out small bores or tight places. Special pipe cleaners are manufactured specifically for cleaning out medical apparatus and for engineering applications. They are popular for catching drips, tying up things, colour coding, and applying paints, oils, solvents, greases, and similar substances.

“Craft” pipe cleaners however are usually made with polyester or nylon pile and are often longer and thicker than the “smoking” type, and available in many different colors. Craft pipe cleaners are not very useful for cleaning purposes, because the polyester does not absorb liquids, and the thicker versions may not even fit down the stem of a normal pipe. Because “sharp” ends of a pipe cleaner are needed to push ends into backing material to hold up objects they should not be left for children under five to play with, unless under supervision.

Creative crafters can make flowers, plants, and animals out of pipe cleaners, as well as using them for other activities. Most craft stores sell assortments of pipe cleaners pre-packaged, or allow crafters to pick out individual pipe cleaners from bins.

Remember the Happy Family Chicken Eggs we just did? Remember the Easter Egg Bunny? All we need to do now is make a basket to keep them nicely together 🙂

Easter Egg Basket. The Happy Chicken Family and their friend, the Easter Bunny 🙂

Cut an empty egg carton. We'll need only four 'nests'.

Trim the sides and paste double-sided tape. Stick a strip of crepe paper all around it.

In case you're wondering how to prepare the crepe paper, just cut a strip and fold. Then trim one end so that it's a little bit rounded.

Use a hole punch and punch a hole each on both sides of the basket. Put a pipe cleaner through it and twist to secure. The Easter Egg Basket is done 🙂
