Hi there. It’s been a while since our last update. We’ve been pretty busy lately. So busy that our plants died because we forgot to water them πŸ™

Because of that, today we’ll be sharing on how to Do-It-Yourself a self-watering container for your plants. We did this a couple of months ago and our little chili plant survives till today πŸ™‚
Self watering pot craft_1

Two months old chili plant in its self-watering pot.

Self watering pot craft

1) Get an empty mineral water bottle

2) Cut into two.

3) Place some strips of cloths and add soil.

4) Add water.

5) Add seed and place container in a shady yet with enough sunlight area.

6) Wait and watch your seed sprout!

It has been 2 months since we started this project and we only changed the water twice. The water never runs dry yet we changed it to get rid of the moss in the water.

Do try this with your little ones. Finally, a hassle-free gardening! πŸ™‚

We have lots and lots of old CDs in our TV cabinet. Some of them have scratches all over that I thought of disposing them when I was spring cleaning the other day. But we never throw away old stuffs now do we? We recycle them! πŸ˜€

Besides CDs we also have lots of these eco-friendly shopping bags. Too many of them in fact! So I decided to recycle them too!

Let’s make a magnetic note holder from recyclables today πŸ™‚

Use the CD as a guide and draw a circle on the black shopping bag.

Draw another circle on the red shopping bag and cut.

Paste the black circle cut-out on the CD. Cut the red circle into half and paste. Cut smaller black circles and paste on the wings.

Paste two googly eyes.

Add the back, paste used clothes peg and a magnet over it.

I think the only items you needed to purchase is the googly eyes and magnet. The rest are totally from the cabinet!

When I do grocery shopping, I often get bowls as free gifts for some of my purchases. Today, I feel like doing something to beautify the bowl and make it the center of attraction πŸ˜€

All we need is the bowl and a bear. I use the bear I got from being a loyal member of a supermarket chain πŸ™‚

Glue the hands and feet to the bowl. Tie a golden ribbon around the neck and your guest will never know that the bowl and bear are made up of cheap stuff πŸ˜€

When we go out shopping, we like to sample food given by the promoters and always end up with lots of paper cups in hand. Instead of just disposing them, if they are used to serve you cereals or any dry food, chances are they are still clean. Let’s do Mother Nature a favour and recycle those paper cups. Let’s transform them into pretty flowers πŸ™‚

If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that I like to recycle stuffs for crafts. Today, I’m very happy for the craft that I’m sharing with you is totally, 100%, originally MINE πŸ˜€

I sat for hours looking at the Vitagen bottles piling up in the recycling box in my kitchen. Yes, I have boxes in the kitchen labelled “plastic“, “glass“, “paper” and “others“. We ALLΒ need to do our part for the environment, don’t we? After hours and hours of looking at the bottle, I finally came out with THIS. I’m so happy (oh yes, I’ve said that already :D).

Alright, enough ofΒ talking and let’s get to back to business. A friend of mine calls this elephant ELEGEN, so ELEGEN it shall be πŸ˜€ Ladies and gentlemen, presenting….

Elegen, the Vitagen Elephant πŸ™‚

Draw a circle, cut and paste to cover the ‘mouth’ of the bottle.

Use small strips of paper and paste until you’ve covered the entire bottle.

Cut 2 long strips of paper. I used two different colors.
Fold on top of each other and then paste as the trunk.
Cut 2 ears out of colored craft foam and paste.

Cut four strips out of colored craft foam and glue the ends to form a loop.
Paste onto the elephant as the legs.

Glue a pipe cleaner as the tail.
I stick an oval craft foam at the end for maximum cuteness effect πŸ˜€
