Feeling a little Oink Oink today so we will be making a paper plate pig!
Paper plate pig
You’ll need a paper plate, two cups from the egg carton and a ring cut out of toilet paper roll
Paste a piece of paper on one side of the toilet paper roll ring and cut out the excess
Glue the egg carton and toilet paper roll ring onto the paper plate. Let dry.
Paint the entire surface pink
Leave it to dry
Paste eyes and nose. I used hole punch and punch out black construction paper for the nose.
Your pig is done
Oink Oink!

She painted 3 paper plates (of different sizes) yellow.
Glue the small plate to the bigger plate.
Cut the beak, wings and feet from the remaining paper plate and glue.
Shred tissue paper and paste as the feathers.
Paste eyes and cottons and there you have it, a cute paper plate chick
Thank you My Learning World for sharing this simple craft with us

When I do grocery shopping, I often get bowls as free gifts for some of my purchases. Today, I feel like doing something to beautify the bowl and make it the center of attraction
All we need is the bowl and a bear. I use the bear I got from being a loyal member of a supermarket chain
Glue the hands and feet to the bowl. Tie a golden ribbon around the neck and your guest will never know that the bowl and bear are made up of cheap stuff

Chinese New Year will be celebrated on the 3rd February 2011, just a couple of days away
We are getting really excited and let’s have a look at the kids making rabbit art to usher the New Year of Rabbit!
A couple of rabbits to usher the New Year of Rabbit
Look for a rabbit, preferably from your Chinese New Year greeting cards or any where and cut it out.
We got ours from Craft Haven.
Draw the outline on a drawing block
Cut out the rabbit.
Place the rabbit template onto another drawing block. Secure with masking tape.
Paint the insides of the template
Repeat on the other side or as many times according to how many rabbits you wish to have
Let dry and your rabbits are done.
You may want to finger print some cherry blossoms too.
Nice?
We hung the rabbit art up at our car porch together with the lanterns
Gong Xi Fa Chai to you and family
Here are the list of Chinese New Year crafts we have done:
1) Red packet ancient coin lantern
’8) Fingerprint Cherry Blossoms
9) Ang Pao Toilet Paper Roll Cracker

To usher the New Year of the Rabbit, let’s make a cute rabbit today
Toilet Paper Roll Rabbit
Cut three rings out of a toilet paper roll
Glue two rings together
Glue the 2 rings to the third ring
Cut two ears out of the envelope of your Chinese New Year card greetings (or you can simply use pink paper
)
Paste the ears and cut two eyes out of white envelope. I’m trying to recycle all I can here
Paste the eyes
Tie a gold string and hang. You may want to paint the toilet roll white before you start if you have the time

This Chinese New Year, let’s have beautiful goldfish accompanying us
We’ll need only 6 red packets, oops, in this case, gold packets.
Gold Packet Gold Fish
We’ll only need two folding methods. 3 packets for each fold.
Fold both edges, leaving a small gap in the middle.
On the opposite end, fold both edges, leaving no gap in the middle.
You’ll need to fold 3 packets according to the above folding method.
Pick the part with the gap and staple so all three are attached to each other.
It should look like this.
Turn them out
See the fold line? You’ll need to cut the triangle out but do not cut on the line. Leave a little space.
Cut only one side. Leave the other untouched. Do not throw away the small triangle as you’ll need it later for the fins.
Cut the second packet. Cut only on one side too.
Cut the third packet. This time, cut both sides. You’ll now have 4 little triangles.
Fold the remaining 3 packets into half
Fold as shown above
Fold again as shown above and repeat on the other side
Fold all three packets using the above folding method.
Staple them side by side together
Place the tail in between the two packets.
Staple on one side
Staple on the other side too
Take 2 triangles
And staple as the fin
Staple the body shut
Staple as shown above
Insert your finger to puff up the fish
Take another small triangle and staple
Repeat on the other side
Staple it totally shut
Open up the tail
Cut two eyes out of white paper and draw the black eye and paste
I like to use this glass stone purchased from IKEA for the ‘fish eye’ effect.
Simply glue the glass stone onto the eyes and you are done
You may also use red packets (ang bao) if you do not have gold packets
Still don’t get it? Watch this video ![]()

Refer to the video we shared on how to cut letters from paper here and we’ll be making alphabet teaching aid again today.
Today’s lucky letter is O.
O is for Octopus
Cut an O out of a piece of paper.
Use that paper O as a guide to draw the outline on a piece of colored foam.
Cut eight tentacles for the octopus.
Use hole punch and punch some circle foams.
Paste the small circles onto the tentacles.
Glue the decorated tentacles onto the O and you are done
